Well, it’s only been one year and already I’m late with the anniversary celebrations!!  Sorry blog, my bad… But ummm, happy (belated) anniversary, eh?!  It’s been fun though, right?!  Here’s a look back at my very first Loonie Sue post , back on December 12, 2016…

So, what’s in store for year 2 of Loonie Sue? Well, I think it’s fine time to go a bit more public with this thing, whaddya think? My reasoning for keeping this whole blog thing hush-hush at the start was so I could build up a bit of content before telling anyone about it.  But then, as time went on and the posts piled up, I just couldn’t bring myself to ‘go public’ with the damn thing.  Sure, I’ve mentioned it to friends in passing, but I’ve never really ‘promoted’ it.  I tell myself that it’s just a personal journal I keep for myself that just happens to be online, and that just knowing that people could see it was enough for me.  But that’s bullshit.  I DO want people to see it.  I DO want people to read it.  I’m just too chickenshit to share it in case people don’t like it and therefore, don’t like me.  I don’t want to be judged.  You see, although I’ve been immersed in the ‘FIRE’ (financial independence, retire early) blog community for a while now – where it’s completely normal to share all financial details, including incomes, expenses, net worths, debt loads, etc, etc – it’s still considered somewhat or even extremely taboo, or at least very weird, to do so in real life… Hence my apprehension…

Anyhoo, all I have to do is commit right here on this post that I’ll go more public with this thing, and then I’ll have no choice but to do it, right?  Cause you all know what happens when you commit to something in writing, right?!  So here goes… before the 2nd anniversary of LS, I commit to:

  • invite more friends, family and acquaintances, through regular day-to-day interactions, to check out the blog and consider subscribing to it
  • and begin sharing posts through social media, like Facebook (I’m too old-school to be on Twitter or IG, or anything else for that matter).

Stay tuned to see if / how / when I make out with this ‘goal’…
